1. Who we are
MasteringYourMentalHealth.com is operated by Elijah Skelton, doing business as Mastering Your Mental Health, in Texas, United States (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, create an account, buy a course, use course features, or contact us. We offer educational courses to individual adults in the United States. We do not currently offer coaching or employer-sponsored programs.
Our courses are educational. They are not therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or medical care.
If you live in a state with consumer health data laws (such as Washington or Nevada), also read our Consumer Health Privacy Notice.
Privacy contact: support@masteringyourmentalhealth.com
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, username, password (stored in protected form), and account preferences.
- Purchase information: billing details, courses purchased, order and payment status, transaction references, and refund records.
- Learning information: course enrollments, lesson progress, completion records, and certificates. If a course includes a quiz, we store your answers and results as part of your learning record.
- Messages: support emails, private course messages, and anything else you choose to send us. Lesson comments are turned off.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, and activity times, used by our hosting, security, payment, and website services.
Card payments are handled by WooPayments, which works with Stripe. Full card numbers and security codes go to the payment providers and are not stored in our website database. We receive order details, payment status, transaction references, and limited payment-method details (such as card type and last four digits) to manage purchases and refunds.
3. Your private journal
Our reflection exercises are meant to be done in your own offline journal. We do not collect or store those journal entries.
Please do not send us journal entries, diagnoses, treatment records, or other sensitive mental health information through messages or support email. Our support is not a confidential clinical service.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Do not use our support email for emergencies.
4. How we use information
- Create and manage accounts and course access.
- Process payments, refunds, and fraud checks.
- Record learning progress and issue certificates.
- Answer questions and course messages.
- Send account, purchase, course, and access-expiration notices.
- Run hosting, backups, security, and spam protection.
- Meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping duties and handle disputes.
- With your permission only, measure which referral sources lead to purchases (see Section 6).
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use or share it for targeted advertising.
5. Service providers and other disclosures
Our website runs on WordPress.com (Automattic), with Jetpack, WooCommerce for purchases and accounts, and Sensei LMS for courses.
- Automattic, WordPress.com, and Jetpack: hosting, website operation, backups, security, login, and media delivery. Akismet (also Automattic) screens submitted content for spam.
- WooPayments and Stripe: payment processing and fraud prevention. WooPayments also uses Sift for fraud screening.
- WooCommerce Fraud Prevention (Automattic): receives your name, contact and address details, browser and session information, IP address and request headers, payment details, and cart and order details. This includes readable product names, so it can show which course you are buying. It also receives the web address of the page where checkout data collection starts and may receive the previous page’s address. We use this service because it is needed to process and protect the payment for the course you request. Your referral choice in our privacy banner does not control it.
- Optional payment methods: if you choose WooPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Affirm, Cash App Afterpay, or Klarna, that provider also handles your payment information under its own privacy notice.
- Email: our website email services and Google (Gmail), which hosts our support inbox, handle messages you send or receive.
Payment and fraud providers may also use this information for their own fraud-prevention, security, and legal purposes, under their own privacy notices. See Automattic’s privacy notice and Stripe’s privacy notice.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or when reasonably needed to deal with fraud, security incidents, or legal claims.
Public features: public student profiles, public course lists, lesson comments, and public certificate sharing are turned off. You can still see your own certificates in your account.
6. Cookies, referral measurement, and browser storage
Necessary cookies run sign-in, your cart, checkout, security, and your privacy choices. The site cannot work without them.
Optional referral measurement is off unless you choose “Allow referral measurement” in our privacy banner. If you allow it, WooCommerce stores cookies that record how you arrived (such as a referring website or campaign), your device type, and how many pages you viewed, and links that to any order you place. Because our courses relate to mental health, this can connect your identity to a health-related purchase. That is why we ask first.
You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy choices” button at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw, the referral cookies are removed. Our site is set to treat a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track browser signal as a decline.
We do not use Jetpack Stats, Google Analytics, or advertising pixels.
Browser storage: some lessons save your daily task check-offs in your own browser’s local storage. That information stays on your device and is not sent to us. Anyone using the same browser profile may see it. You can erase it by clearing site data for masteringyourmentalhealth.com in your browser settings. An earlier optional mood check-in has been removed; if you used it, any old choices may still be in your browser until you clear site data.
7. How long we keep information
Course access lasts 12 months, but the end of access does not by itself delete your account, orders, messages, or learning records.
- Account and learning records: kept while you have active course access plus 12 months, then reviewed for deletion.
- Support messages: reviewed for deletion 12 months after the issue is resolved.
- Orders and payment records: kept as long as needed for tax, accounting, refund, fraud, and legal purposes.
- Unpaid or failed orders: moved to trash after 30 days.
We may keep information longer if needed for a legal duty, fraud investigation, or dispute.
Backups: WordPress.com keeps rolling backups of our site for up to six months. One person’s information cannot be removed from existing backups; those copies expire on the host’s schedule. If we ever restore a backup, we first re-apply completed deletion requests. Server logs are kept for about 30 days. Some site activity records may remain in the host’s long-term storage.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
Email support@masteringyourmentalhealth.com to ask to see, correct, get a copy of, or delete your personal information, or to withdraw consent. Tell us your request and the email on your account. Do not send passwords, card numbers, or journal entries.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as opting out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We may need to confirm your identity, or an authorized agent’s permission, before acting.
We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, as the law allows, we will tell you why within that period.
Deleting your account may end access to courses you bought. Some records (such as tax and order records) may need to be kept; we will tell you what and why.
Appeals: if we decline your request, reply with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” We will answer within 45 days (or the time your state’s law requires). If you are still not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
We will never treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
We only send account, purchase, and course emails. We do not currently send marketing emails. If that changes, we will update this policy and give you a way to unsubscribe.
9. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including hosting security and backups. No website or storage system is completely secure. Keep your password private and contact us if you think someone has accessed your account.
10. Adults only
Our courses are for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or practices change. We will change the effective date above, and give extra notice or ask for consent when the law requires it.
